Leftfield new wavers Blancmange and the message of their tabla driven anthem “All Things Are Nice” is analogous to our musical ethos for the weekly FSQ program: diversity is important. Being true to that mindset, in this 2nd show of 2020 we pack in more genres than ever before across the spectrum of funk, style and quality music. We debut our own FSQ Caribbean Disco remix for Ultra Music artist Dejavilla’s “Feel Me Running Away”. We explore several of George Clinton’s anti-nuclear war hymns from his 1980s solo albums. Please listen close for a special FSQ tribute to Parliament-Funkadelic singer Ray Davis. We cover Mr. Davis’ unique baritone vocal work from his participation in the 60’s Northern Soul group Del-Larks to his 80’s boogie funk work with Roger Troutman of Zapp. Our New Music Ferry sails in direct from Lisbon, Portugal with a haul of new Lusophone cargo including a collaboration between Best Youth and FSQ favorites Xinobi and Moulinex, plus a new discovery, the Portuguese duo known as Boarding Gate.
