Released in 1975 and adapted from an obscure 1970 Latin-Soul b-side by The Real Thing ( not the British Soul group ) called “Heavy Together”. This version which emerged on Morty Craft’s LA based Jan Label was probably crafted with an eye on embryonic New York Disco Club Scene. Arranged by Louis Ramirez and featuring the impassioned vocals of a gentleman called Joe Chapel ( Jobell ) this shimmering uplifting Latin flavoured gem has all the right ingredients for a dance floor filler. In fact, when it crossed the pond the following year of release it became a huge Northern Crossover ‘anthem’ at the legendary and influential Blackpool Mecca. This then led to a further UK issue on the Pye International label ( Mar 1977 ) which featured both the original version and a disco mix on the flip.
