Described as “Proto-Funk”, this heavyweight slice of wax was literally improvised “on the hoof” in the studio during some spare time at Thunder Recording in New Orleans by local band Earl Stanley And The Stereos. This magnificent record, built round a very simple riff, was handed to Earl by his cousin, Roger Leon Jr. Earl then transformed it into a hypnotic, head-nodding, hip-shaking, mesmerizing groove with the help of entrepreneur Joe Banashak who licensed it to his Seven B label, and Eddie Bo who was brought in by Joe to work his magic. It is Eddie’s grunts and vocals you can hear on this classic recording.
