Ain't Nothin' But A House Party

A raucous Motown style sixties soul floor-shaker that permeates some seriously Good Vibrations. This record was the debut single by the Philly based group that featured two sets of brothers Timmy and Earl Smith, and Alec and Vladimir “Laddie” Burke younger brothers of Soul legend Solomon Burke. Despite its now ‘Classic’ status, it wasn’t an instant success. Released in ’67 it came out on four different labels in the US, and even with some solid regional successes, it couldn’t break through into the mainstream. Fortune changed, however, when it was picked up by entrepreneur Milton Samuel who was setting up the UK based Beacon label, becoming a smash hit reaching number 11 in the UK charts.
