Hard & Heavy Funk

This week’s Liquid Sunshine turned up the heat with a relentless barrage of hard funk that hit like a sledgehammer to the soul, featuring deep cuts and bangers that proved funk music’s raw power remains unmatched.

From Mother Freedom Band’s opening statement through to Richard Evans’ “Burning Spear,” every track was selected for maximum groove impact, showcasing funk’s ability to move bodies while delivering serious social commentary. This was funk in its purest, most uncompromising form – no softening of edges, just pure rhythmic assault that reminded listeners why funk became the foundation for so much of what followed.
