This week we begin where the Café feels most at home – somewhere between open road and open water. Hermanos Gutiérrez and Tommy Guerrero set the horizon before Lexx, DJ Pippi & Willie Graff, Ken Fan’s gorgeous Chinos Dub, Christophe Goze and Yota Miyachi carry us out toward the Balearic blue. The Swan And The Lake and Afterlife keep things beautifully weightless, before Nightmares On Wax brings a little Abbey Road haze.
Then the sun drops and the soul comes out. Minnie Riperton opens a glorious run through Norman Connors, Dexter Wansel, LeRoy Hutson, Tracey Thorn and Roberta Flack. Balearic beginnings, soul-soaked endings — and plenty of Blueboy curveballs in between.
