This week’s FSQ episode, “My Bent Arm,” takes its name from Chuck Da Fonk’s ongoing adventures recovering from an elbow injury—and finds him bending the musical rules while his arm works on doing the same.
Suki Waterhouse opens the show before Astor Piazzolla’s “Libertango” morphs into Grace Jones’ unmistakable interpretation. British new wave and synth-pop come courtesy of The Planets, The Mood, The Korgis, New Musik, Re-Flex and Private Lives, while Yukihiro Takahashi, Andy Summers & Robert Fripp and Adrian Belew take things into more experimental territory. Travis Biggs and W.A.G.B. Band bring the funkier grooves.
Angular, atmospheric, funky and slightly off-kilter—much like the arm that inspired the title.
